Great Waters is the solo project of Chicago-based musician, John Guido.

John grew up in Chicagoland and took to playing cello and singing at a young age. At 12, he learned guitar and joined his first rock band, starting 25 years of collaborating in projects that brought him to some of Chicago's iconic stages (Schubas, Hideout, Double Door) and on the airwaves of the city's beloved 93XRT.

In 2019, working a full-time career and about to welcome his first child, John began writing material for what would become his first solo release. Throughout 2020, he continued writing and decided to record a collection of songs the following year.

In 2021, John worked with Erik Hall (self, In Tall Buildings, Wild Belle, Nomo) at his rural studio in southwest Michigan to record and mix a solo EP. Soon after beginning, it was clear that the EP format would not sufficiently express what John had to say, and that a more complete story needed to be told.

Little Doors of Paradise is the debut record from Great Waters and is out on Bandcamp and Spotify.
